.-The Rockwell Center for American Visual Studies, the scholarly arm of Norman Rockwell Museum, announced a slate of speakers and topics for its annual symposium, Picturing Freedom: A Century of Illustration. For the second year in a row this event will happen virtually on Zoom over two days Friday, January 15 and Saturday, January 16. This timely symposium will explore historical and contemporary notions of freedom as well as the role of illustration as a force in shaping public perception. How has published imagery affected decision-making, public policy, and cultural understanding? Prominent authors, illustrators, and scholars will offer perspectives. It is going to be a hot month in March for Mustang fans, as Barrett-Jackson’s massive auction in Scottsdale, Arizona, will have on the block a large number of such machines, including Shelby-prepped ones. Among them, the very one Shelby American used as a PR car back in the day. 13 photos
Like others of its kind, this particular Shelby, a GT350 by birth, has been part of the private collection of the auction house’s very own CEO, Craig Jackson. It was discovered in 2016 after spending a number of years hidden away somewhere in Southern Texas and entered a comprehensive restoration program that took some 2,000 hours to complete.

.- Visitors to Winterthur will likely run into some special guests this year: members and other visitors from the Delaware Museum of Natural History. Winterthur will host many of DMNHs perennially popular events and programs while the museum is closed for renovation until early 2022, when it will reopen as the Delaware Museum of Nature and Science.
